Marriage has not changed anything for gorgeous Kareena Kapoor Khan. In fact, she desires to be her professional self and continue acting till she is eighty. The actress paid a quick visit to the City recently to promote her film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
“It’s one of those English ‘rom-com’ kind of a movie. It’s a popcorn entertainer and a feel-good-film. I play a social activist, somebody who stands for what she wants and is right in the forefront when there is a protest. Imran’s character is completely useless on the other hand, he plays a lazy guy who wants to party every night. They meet and go around and then she dumps him as their ideologies don’t match. He follows her all the way to Gujarat,” she explains.
A good part of the movie has been shot in Bangalore, Kareena can’t stop raving about the City. “I play a character who has studied in Bangalore.
Bangalore is one of the most beautiful cities and it is so developed. I love the airport here. I had visited the outskirts of the City long back with my mother. I have been to Mysore many times as a lot of Karisma’s shoots used to be held there,” she notes. Ask her if marriage has turned her life upside down and she says that her work and personal life have nothing to do with each other.
“Marriage has nothing to do with my professional life at all. They are two separate areas of my life. I am a professional actor. I work and have my personal life. I have always been like this,” she says. Her size-zero figure was the talk of the town a while back and she has been quite frank about being fit and in shape. “It’s a battle and a struggle to maintain a good shape, but I am generally a fit person.
I had stopped yoga a while back but I am back to it again. I alternate and fluctuate with my weight a little but both Saif and I are pretty fit. We have our good days and bad days. I love eating pizzas and pastas and the odd glass of wine. I am as normal as any 30-year-old woman is. I will follow this mantra of keeping fit all my life and I swear by my dietician – she transformed my life six years ago and I will always follow her diet plan. She is quite lenient on binging and doesn’t harp a lot on exercising and advises me to eat right,” she informs.
Whether it is an item number or an intense role, Kareena has tried her hand at all kinds of films. She doesn’t want to restrict herself to a particular genre and feels that as an actress she wants to be known for doing all kinds of films.
“The parallel films have always been there. In fact, I am doing a film with Dev Benegal and acting opposite Farhan. It’s a commercial film but is directed by someone who has a different take on commercial films. I have always been an actress who wants to do all genres, no one can pin-point and say that I have done only a particular kind of films,” she says.
Her future plans are all worked out and she has no qualms in declaring that she only wants to act and does not want to digress into direction, production or even Hollywood for that matter.
“I am extremely passionate about acting, travelling and food. I will balance my life always doing different kinds of films and hopefully continue acting till I am 80. I can’t think of anything else. My mother-in-law has worked all her life and looks so beautiful. I hope I can do something like that. For the last 13 years, I have worked diligently in this space and I don’t want to go anywhere else,” she sums up.
