VC, registrars stand united
Bangalore:

Those expecting a tempestuous affair were disappointed as Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev, upon his return from Delhi on Friday afternoon, presented a united front with the new Registrar Dr M G Krishnan and Registrar (Evaluation) Dr M S Talwar.

On his arrival in the City, the VC headed straight to the Jnana Bharathi campus and met the two new Registrars. Prabhu Dev, who had initially opposed the the Registrars’ appointment, told Deccan Herald, “I met the two Registrars and we look forward to work for the betterment of the university.”  He along with the two Registrars also addressed the SC/ ST hostel students at the University and agreed to some of the demands.

The SC/ST students’ demands included the hostel allowance for the holiday months of July and August; better basic amenities at the hostel and sacking of Director of Students Welfare Narendra Kumar.

Registrar, Dr M G Krishnan said, “In recent years, the varsity’s name has been sullied but we will work together to make this great institution even greater.”

His first major task was a rather lighter one, reopening the canteen. “The canteen has been closed for months. But, I have told the contractors to re-open or leave and they have to serve their first coffee to me at 10 am on Monday,” he said.

Registrar (Evaluation), Dr M S Talwar, too said that his meeting with the V-C was cordial and said that their first task together was a success. “Our first task as a team was to get the students to call off their strike and we did it successfully. I hope this is a sign of things to come for the university,” he said.
