All judges of Madras HC disclose assets
Chennai, Nov 20,DHNS:

Transparency in the judiciary got a big boost on Friday, as the Madras HC Judges led by its Chief Justice Hemant Laxman Gokhale, a former judge of the Bombay High Court and former Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, put up their assets statement in an admirably simple format.

All the 54 judges of the Madras High Court disclosed their assets in the public realm by uploading the details on the court’s website, as per a resolution adopted by its ‘Full Court’ recently and in line with the decision taken by the Supreme Court judges.

Interestingly, the ‘assets of judges’ will now be contained in a separate folder alongside the who’s who of the judges including those who sit in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

Amid a lot of excitement in the High Court campus as the information packs were uploaded on the court website on Friday evening, the details of the Chief Justice’s assets leads the declarations, followed by those of the other judges in their order of seniority.
Justice S J Mukhopadhaya, Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifulla, Justice D Murugesan and other judges declared their assets.
