Taxmen raid industrialists
Bangalore:

In a major operation against alleged tax evasion, officials of the Department of Income Tax carried out simultaneous raids at 20 offices and residences of four industrialists, including a Congress leader, and scrutinised their property details here on Friday.

A policeman stands guard at the house of Congress leader Chakrapani at Kodigehalli in Bangalore during the Income Tax department raid on Friday. DH PhotoThe Kodigehalli residence of Congress leader K N Chakrapani, the Indiranagar residence and office of N Ananda Reddy, owner of Nandhini Group of Hotels; the Ali Asker Road residence of K Prakash Shetty, owner of the Goldfinch boutique hotel, and the residence and office of Kamal Pasha, owner of the Golden Hatcheries, were the target of these surprise raids.

“The raids began around 7 am and continued till 4 pm,” highly placed sources said. The I-T Department, however, has not disclosed the locations of the raided offices.

It is believed that the officials scrutinised and confiscated ‘important’ property documents, bank passbooks, vouchers, auditor’s reports and I-T receipts at all the 20 places where the raids were conducted.

The officials closely inspected, in particular, the property deeds, jewellery and cash at Chakrapani’s residence.

The raids also looked into the aspects of ‘black’ money stockpiled by the industrialists.

Three chairs to I-T, CBI and Lok Ayukta.. Go after these crooks, looters, and cheaters. Reddy brothers need to be prosecuted for looting first. Save the country by arresting all crooks - public and private.

The top real estate developers who entered bangalore actually need IT raiding which saw large scale illegal land grabbing during the property boom a couple of years ago.
