Set for an exciting journey...

The trend of making sequels seems to be catching up in the Kannada film industry. Director Jacob Varghese has started working on his third film, Savaari 2, nearly three years after the release of Prithvi.

The movie is a sequel to the 2009 release Savaari and its shooting is going on in the City.
One wonders if the gap is too long to the sequel but Jacob says, “It is not just a commercial venture. I needed a strong reason to do a film and I should feel excited about the subject.

That excitement has begun,” says Jacob adding, “The process of making a film should be pure enjoyment. And the entertainment value should be passed on to the audience. Moreover, I do films  for inner satisfaction. Even if people forget me, it does not matter but my films should be remembered whenever they watch it, either on the big or the small screen.”

The movie, he says, promises to be far more entertaining and engaging than the first one. And while the first one focussed on a bike journey of two strangers who turned friends, this one is about three people who goes on a trip by car. “We have also made few changes in the cast.

The sequel will see the journey of three –– Srinagara Kitty, model Karan Rao and veteran actor-director Girish Karnad. I also need to progress with time and so I pushed the concept of bike and replaced it with a car. I have roped in some of the best actors for this film. Apart from Kitty, we have Shruthi Hariharan, Bhavana and Tamil actor Abbas,” he informs.

Probe him more about Abbas’ role in the film and Jacob doesn’t reveal much. “Nobody has a blink-and-miss role in the film. Every character is thought about and has an important role to play,” he adds.

Apart from directing, Jacob is also producing for the first time. “The financial risk is there but it is a nice feeling because it gives me total freedom to do and create what I believe in,” he claims. With a lot of expectations surrounding the sequel, Jacob says that he is under no pressure whatsoever.

“I’m making this film because it’s exciting and I want to tell this story. Yes, there is pressure on music as Savaari had really good music. But now, I am not worried as Manikanth Kadri has done a brilliant job yet again. I sat with him for almost a year, which helped us come out with a good album,” he adds.
