Last Updated 23 December 2013, 19:35 IST

The Mestripalya lake in Koramangala would be given a facelift soon, Bangalore Urban District In-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy promised on Monday.

During the rainy season, sewage water flows into the lake despite the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) laying a pipeline for the purpose, people living near the water body complained to the minister.

Reddy then assured them that he would instruct the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to set up a sewage outlet with a separate pipeline. “A pathway provision will also be done along the lake. And the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) which is in charge of the water body will be given adequate funds to implement the project,” he added.

Meanwhile, Palike Commissioner M Lakshminarayana who was present at the spot told reporters that Madivala Market would be renovated soon. “The commissioner has got the report on remodelling of the market space, which has been prepared by a private company,” Reddy said.

The minister later visited Adugodi, Koramangala and Jakkasandra wards to inspect ongoing road works and civic amenities there.
