Gritty Mysore Zone close in on victory

Mysore Zone held Combined City by the scruff of their neck as they narrowed in on a win on the opening day of their KSCA under-14 inter-zonal selection matches here.

Batting first, Mysore rode on contributions from Nimesh (63) and Nikin Jose (59) to declare at 276 for six in 81 overs. Mysore backed their early declaration with a fiery bowling display as Nikin (3/7) and Niranjan (3/9) reduced Combined City to 46 for seven in 37 overs.

In another match, Mangalore Zone were all out for 229 in 74.4 overs.

Abhishek Shetty (61) and Akshay Bagera (55) struck half-centuries for Mangalore while Devdutt BP (3/40) and Aamir (2/27) were among the wickets for President’s XI.

In reply, President’s XI reached 184/3 in 48 overs as Devdutt slammed 53 and Sanil Navar remained unbeaten on 34. Shetty scalped 2/28 for Mangalore

Vice President’s XI: 314/5 decl in 68 overs (Premnath J G 118 retd, Ashrith Tayade 101; Vidyadhar 2-4) vs Raichur Zone: 107/9 in 40 overs (Vidyadhar 71; Sudanshu Sonkar 4-22, Vishal R 2-15).

Mangalore Zone: 229 all out in 74.4 overs (Abhishek Shetty 61, Akshay Bagera 55; Devdutt BP 3-40, Aamir 2-27) vs President’s XI: 184/3 in 48 overs (Devdutt BP 53, Sanil Navar 34 batting; Abhishek Shetty 2-28).

Shimoga Zone: 201 all out in 57.2 overs (Akash Sharma 61; Akash Ballal 4-59, Aman Khan 2-27, Shaun Joseph 2-28) vs Bangalore City XI: 173/4 in 53 overs (Vinay 66, Aravind Venkatesh 39; Suprith Gowda 2-44).

Bangalore Zone: 247 all out in 75.2 overs (Munim Moosa 94, Vinay R 56; Akshay H 3-40, Punit D 2-45, Sujay H 2-37) vs Dharwad Zone: 101/5 in 35 overs (Parixith Okkunda 54 batting; Siddarth SM 3-31).

Secretary’s XI: 210 all out in 73.4 overs (Jaswanath Acharya 40, Karan Pawar 51; Sanjay 4-97, Pranav Bellur 2-43) vs Tumkur Zone: 131/1 in 38 overs (Sanjay VN 43 batting, Chaitravardhan 47 batting).
