GSS funeral at Kalagrama today

The State government has issued official communique detailing the route of funeral procession and funeral of Rashtrakavi G S Shivarudrappa who passed away on Monday. The funeral will be held at Karnataka Kalagrama, Jnanabharathi campus, Bangalore University, at 4:30 pm.

The poet's body is kept at KIMS Hospital. His son Shivaprasad and family put up at Birmingham, United Kingdom, are expected to reach City by Wednesday evening. The official communique says Shivarudrappa’s body will be brought to his home ‘Chaitra’ in Banashankari at 7 am from KIMS Hospital and kept for public viewing between 8 and 8:30 am. Thereafter, it would be taken to Kannada Sahitya Parishath in Chamarajapet between 9:30 and 10 am, where the literary community would pay their last respects.

The mortal remains would then be taken to Ravindra Kalakshetra where it would be placed for public to pay their last respects between 10:30 am and 2 pm. The mortal reamains would then be taken to Jnanabharathi campus through Mysore Road.

The body would be first taken to Kannada Study Centre on the campus, of which GSS was the founding director. The communique said he would be accorded full State honours.
