Dalai Lama arrives at Bylukuppe

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama arrived at Bylukuppe Tibetan settlement, in the taluk, on Tuesday. He was accorded a traditional welcome by Tibetans.

Dalai Lama will stay in the settlement, here, for 13 days and will deliver spiritual discourses.  He will also participate in various religious and development programmes in Bylukuppe. It is learnt that his followers from Canada, Malaysia, Singapore and other foreign countries have arrived at the settlement to listen to his discourses.

Grand welcome

Tibetans, clad in traditional attires, lined up on both sides of the road right from Koppa Cross to welcome Dalai Lama. They played music and sang songs in his praise.

 Decorative welcome arches had erected all along the path. Circle Inspector of Police Prasanna Kumar said, elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of the Nobel Laureate spiritual leader.

Tibetan leaders Tenzin Dolma, Tuptin, Dava Tsreing, Tenzin, Karmappa, Shawang and others were present.
