Taking advantage of love

Angaaraka

Kannada (U) **Director: Srinivas KoushikCast: Prajwal Devaraj, Pranitha, Hardhika Shetty, Avinash
Mars is supposed to bear a negative influence upon an individual’s marriage prospects. Necessitating various methods to propitiate him for the well-being of the couple, set to last their entire lifetime and sometimes that of their offspring even. Including marrying more than once, bigamy, etc.

The director pegs his story upon this notion in Angaaraka. And we have three good-looking people taking the story further. "

For Angaaraka is not just about baleful planetary influences but also how people can twist excuses for their convenience.

A family subject mostly, Angaaraka also touches upon a man’s frustration destroying his sense of right and wrong, another’s dilemma of having to abide by his father’s diktat while also standing by his love and sanity prevailing at the end.

On the surface, Angaaraka screenplay is worse than weak, even the song-and-dance numbers not giving any relief. But, this seemingly simple story is held together by competent performances from Avinash, Muni, Jai Jagadish and the actress essaying Avinash’s wife’s role, and ably led by Prajwal and Hardhika Shetty.

A notable feature is the improvement in Pranitha, who should pay a little attention to her lip syncing and dialogue delivery during recording. Though not porcelain-beautiful like Pranitha, Hardhika sparkles with her expressions. Arjun Janya’s songs are not value additions while Babu’s camerawork is adequate.

This Angaaraka can be watched without fear of negative consequences.
