Jagseer leaps to gold; Ramya sparkles

Bangalore, Nov 27, dhns:

India’s Jagseer Singh and Ramya N S hogged the limelight by winning gold medals in athletics events on the fourth day of the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports (IWAS) Games 2009 at the Sree Kanteerava stadium here on Friday.


Jagseer leapt to a distance of 6.70 metres to clinch the long jump gold in the F-46 class. The 23-year-old thus successfully defended the title which he won two years back at the IWAS Games in Chinese Taipei.
Ramya took the gold in the women’s shot put event for F-46 class where she found a distance of 9.50 metres.

Hosts Rajendra Rawat pocketed the individual gold in the golf event and his team-mate Gaurav Dutta bagged the bronze. Indian team comprising of Dutta, Rawat and Rakesh Sharma also took the gold in the team event.
