Speaking to Deccan Herald over telephone from New Delhi, Ramachandran, who is also the chairman of both the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRCL) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, said, “We will do whatever necessary to ensure it (the project) is on schedule. We are tking every step possible to keep the costs down while awarding tender contracts. Both the Centre and State Cabinets have approved all cost estimates,” he said. He also said that the General Consultants (GC) have been put in place to oversee project progress and that the BMRCL is capable of executing the project.

“The project is on track. The Delhi Metro has just been appointed as prime consultant and will offer its expertise only if necessary. There should not be any apprehension on the project going off track,” he added.

The Government of India (GoI) and the Government of Karnataka (GoK) are both equity partners in the Bangalore Metro project.
