Honor killing: Father murders daughter, her husband

In a suspected case of honour killing, a father allegedly battered his daughter and her husband to death in Durgapur village here, police said today.

The incident happened last night in Chaurasi area when Vinod (25) and his wife Rita (22) were attacked by girl's father Parag and his associates with sticks, they said.

Vinod's mother Krishnawati was also seriously injured in the incident, police said.

While Vinod died on the spot, Rita and Krishnawati were rushed to the hospital, where the former died during treatment. Krishnawati's condition is said to be critical.

Rita had eloped with Vinod following which an FIR was registered by police on Parag's complaint. The matter was also brought before a court three years ago.

The court, taking cognisance of statements of both Rita and Vinod, gave them a go ahead for marriage against her father's will, police added.

Parag is currently absconding and a manhunt has been launched to nab him, they said.
