MLA N Chaluvarayaswamy announced that former MLA C S Puttaraju will contest on the JD(S) party ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a press meet, here, on Wednesday, he said, the name of the candidate is being announced to prevent any unnecessary confusion. The campaigning will begin from March 20 across the district, he said.

He would perform puja at the Kalikambatemple on March 24 at 10 am before taking out a procession to the Deputy Commissioner’s office to file his nomination papers, the MLA said.

Replying to a question about the absence of Maddur MLA D C Thammanna, he said, Thammanna could not attend the meet due to some work and there was no difference of opinion in the party, he clarified. All partymen, in unison, have suggested Puttaraju’s name, who will enter the fray, he added. It can be recalled that Thammanna had sought the party ticket for his son Santhosh.

JD(S) candidate C S Puttaraju, who spoke on the occasion, said, he had learnt that the Sarvodaya Karnataka Party (SKP) will not field any candidate for the polls. “If it is true, I would appeal to MLA K S Puttannaiah and SKP leader K S Nanjundegowda to support JD(S),” he said.
