Hema, Rathore in BJP's sixth list

Bollywood’s dream girl Hema Malini, Olympic medal winner Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, former Rajasthan DGP Harish Meena and daughter of a Maharashtra minister Sushree Heena Gavit figure in the sixth list of Lok Sabha candidates released by the BJP on Wednesday.

While Hema Malini was earlier a Rajya Sabha member, she will be contesting from Mathura against RLD sitting MP Jayant Chaudhary, Rathore will be pitched against senior Congress leader C P Joshi in Jaipur Rural and Gavit will take on sitting Congress MP Manik Rao Gavit in Nadurbar seat of Maharashtra. Harish Meena, who is brother of minister of state for finance Namo Narayan Meena, will battle out in the reserved seat of Dausa, represented by National People’s Party (NPP) leader Kirori Lal Meena.

“Of the 67 candidates, 21 are from Gujarat, three from Bihar,  20 from Rajasthan, 15 from UP, 2 from Maharashtra, and one each from Jharkhand, Kerala, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu,” said BJP leader Thawar Chand Gehlot at press conference after the CEC meeting.
