‘Ugadi Utsava’ 

Ananya – GML Cultural Academy is presenting the Ugadi Utsava on March 22 and 23. 

A vocal recital by  Amrutha Venkatesh will be held on March 22, 6 pm at Ananya Sabhangana, Malleswaram. On March 23, 6 pm, a veena recital will be presented by Jayanthi Kumaresh at Seva Sadan, 14th Cross, Malleswaram.

 

Vibrant scene 

Pratham is presenting live performances, concerts, auctions etc at the MG Road Metro Station on March 22 and 23. Pandit Radhakrishna, Gabriel Loan (USA), Gaurab Chatterjee (drummer), Manu Bhauguna (photographer) and Ramesh Katti are performing and presenting a piece of their art on the occasion. ‘Chronic Blues’, ‘Dorian Junction’, folk artistes and ethnic artisans will be live at the venue.

Colourful world 

Shrishti Latha Puttanna is presenting an exhibition of sari blouses, anarkalis, salwars, tunics in wonderful hand-loomed fabrics such as Mal cotton, Mangalgiri cottons, cotton silks, Ikats, Kalamkaris, Chettinad checks, Ajraks and antique Rajasthani patches on March 22, from 10 am to 7 pm at Raintree, No 4, Sankey Road, High Grounds, opposite ITC Windsor.

Live act 

Kitty Su’s Pleasure Dome is presenting an exciting act by DJ Andrew Rayel on March 23, 4 pm onwards at Kalinga, The Lalit Ashok. 

There will be supporting acts by Nikhil Chinapa, DJ Mash and ‘Answer’ on 

the occasion. 

Classical strains 

Karnataka Ganakala Parishath is holding two classical concerts on March 22 at 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm. The concerts will be held at Shree Sharada Samskrutika Sangha. For details, call 23480234.

Rural landscapes

Magnitude Gallery, Jayanagar, is hosting an exhibition on the theme ‘Rustic Hues’ till March 31. This exhibition showcases paintings on countryside depicting women in different rural scenes.

Dance along 

Sabor Production is presenting a two-day dance event on March 22, 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm and on March 23, 6.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. 

The event will feature different dances such as salsa, bachata, hip hop and jive.

Creative strokes

The Indian Institute of Cartoonists is organising ‘Bangalore — Swinging in the 70s’, an exhibition of cartoons by Paul Fernandes, from March 22 to April 8, 10 am to 6 pm. 

The exhibition will be held on all days except Sunday. The venue is Indian Cartoon Gallery, No 1, Midford House, Midford Garden, off MG Road, near Big Kids Kemp, Trinity Circle. 

Satirical take 

Jagriti NWF and Playpen are presenting the play ‘Take It Or Leave It’ by Salmin Sheriff on March 22, 8 pm and March 23, 3 pm and 6.30 pm. The play is a satire on corruption in the words of the playwright. 

It features Sanjay Iyer, Supriya Uthaiah, Pazz Shan, Shraddha Srinath, Polina Schapova, Mansi Paresh Kumar, Edgar Fernandes, Mohan Kumar, Sai Krishna, Praveen Kumar, BD Ankur and Pooja Shankar.

Grand concert 

BTM Cultural Academy is organising two grand 

musical concerts on March 

22 and 23 from 5.30 pm onwards at Shree Ramana 

Maharshi Academy for the Blind, 3rd Cross, 3rd 

Phase, JP Nagar (near Ragigudda). 

Ensemble 

The International Music and Art Society, in association with Titan Industries and the Alliance Francaise, is presenting the ‘Arties Festival India’, a chamber music concert by an ensemble of five top-class musicians from Europe, on March 22, 7 pm at the Alliance Francaise. The artistes are Laurent Manaud, Mathide Borsarello Herrmann, Cecile Grassi, Gauthier Herrmann and Emmanuel Christien. They will be playing a programme of Romantic French composers. Tickets are available at Cafe de la liberte, Alliance Francaise.

Powerful movements 

Keshava Nrithya Shala and Keshava College of Music and Dance are presenting a unique dance ballet titled Panchama Veda on March 22, 5.45 pm at ADA Rangamandira, JC Road. Directed by BK Shyam Prakash, the ballet is based on Bharat Mun’s Natya Shastra. 

Stone art 

Kala Sanketa will be held from March 22 to April 6, 10.30 am to 8.30 pm, at Bimba The Art Ashram. Stone sculptures, Tanjore paintings, brass relief sculpting, Mysore rod puppets, handmade 

and temple jewellery will be showcased at the festival. The festival will be held at No 42 Ratna Vilasa / DVG Road, Basavanagudi.

‘Indie March’ 

CounterCulture is hosting ‘Indie March’ on March 22, 5 pm onwards. The event will feature the best of music by five well-known bands such as Parvaaz, ‘Skrat’, ‘The 

F16 ‘s’, ‘Until We Last’ and ‘SBTYR’.
