A solitary goal from ADE’s Vijay Karthik settled their dull contest against South United in their BDFA Super Division encounter here at the Bangalore Football Stadium on Tuesday.

The match saw more instances of stretchers coming on to the field for late challenges than goal-mouth action and even the lone goal came from a piece of good fortune.ADE’s Shiva Kumar M, who was booked for elbowing a rival player in the first half, was lucky to escape a second yellow for stamping on another’s foot.

South United started the brighter of the two sides and tested the keeper Mark Mascarenhas with a couple of long range shots but there was generally no rhythm in either side’s game. There was also a number of niggling injuries and South United’s Solaimalai was taken off early in the match.

Passes were going astray, shots were going for throw-ins and most of the players were content to play the waiting game. The second-half followed the same narrative as the first, apart from Karthik’s goal in the 55th minute.

ADE had a throw in down the South United left and Karthik’s delivery into the box had a wicked deviation on it and the ball sailed over the head of goalkeeper Kabir, who was off his line.
