CIL strike late to defeat BFC

CIL struck twice at the death to pull off a stunning come-from-behind 5-3 win over I-League champions Bengaluru FC in the BDFA Super Division League here on Wednesday.

Trailing 2-3 with seven minutes of regulation time left at the Bangalore Football Stadium, CIL equalised when an alert Nagaraj slotted home a rebound off team-mate B Prakash’s long-range attempt.

With a desperate BFC going all out in search of a winner, CIL then struck two lethal blows on the counter to script a surprise win. Nirmal Kumar scored in the 88th minute before Pradeep Kumar completed his brace in the 90th minute to seal BFC’s fate. In the ‘A’ Division League, Schlemang scored a brace as Postal defeated AGORC 3-1.

Results: Super Division: CIL: 5 (Pradeep Kumar 53rd, 90th, Prakash B 76th, Nagaraj 83rd, Nirmal Kumar 88th) bt Bengaluru FC: 3 (Karan S 34th, Rushi Anto 61st Vijay (OG) 60th). ‘A’ Division: Postal: 3 (Schlemang 38th, 63rd, Srinivas 70th) bt AGORC: 1 (80+1).
