Corporates to help build infrastructure

Last Updated 19 June 2014, 20:06 IST

Many corporate houses will pledge to lend helping hand to the BBMP in building basic infrastructure as the chief minister hands over agreement copies to them on June 24 at Freedom Park under Palike's initiative 'Namma Bangalore- Nanna Koduge' (My contribution to our Bangalore).

The Palike has entered into MoUs with as many as 240 corporate houses who would help develop lakes, playgrounds, parks, gardens and the BBMP schools on Public Private Partnership.

The Mayor recalled how the Palike had faced strong criticism in the past when one of its schools was handed over to a private firm. But the outcome of the decision was quite encouraging as the children studying in the school excelled in various fields including education. He said two public sector banks have come forward to adopt two lakes in the City and a school under the scheme.
