JOIN USDiscus thrower Vikas Gowda and sprinter H M Jyothi feature in the Indian athletics team for the Commonwealth Games, starting next week.
Vikas is the silver medallist at the last Commonwealth Games in New Delhi while Canara Bank employee Jyothi was part of the 4x100 relay team that won the bronze.
High jumper Sahana Kumari, quartermiler M R Poovamma and Ashwini Akkunji (4x400M relay) are the other Karnataka athletes in the team.
The Athletics Federation of India had decided not to send the men’s 4x100 relay team after their poor performance in the trials while Arpinder Singh figures as the lone triple jumper after Renjith Maheswary failed to impress in the trials.
