Their truth be told...

Veteran actor Anupam Kher is back on television with his new chat show Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai. The show took off with him interviewing none other than Shah Rukh Khan, revealing interesting facts about the star.

Anupam Kher himself is amazed at a few of the revelations. He exclaims, “Did you know Khan was actually named Abdul Rehman by his grandmother, but his father named him Shah Rukh?” “Shah Rukh also told me that he fears someone will cut off his hands when he does his famous signature style,” he adds.

Anupam Kher will be seen interviewing some of the well-known stars like Mahesh Bhatt and his daughter Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah. However, the actor rues that he was unable to get Amitabh Bachchan on the chat show as the actor was busy.“I hope to get him the next season,” he says.

The host plans to get people from different walks of life on the show, like Narayan Murthy and Sachin Tendulkar. Besides them, he will also have the younger lot of actors: Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapoor. “They are very straightforward. I learnt a lot from them,” says the veteran.

The show, he says, is about the setbacks in the life of these achievers. “My idea of the chat show was to inspire people by telling the star guests’ stories. I was not interested in their personal life because everybody has the right to live the way they live.

I am a people’s person. I like them. I understand them, I don’t judge them. I don’t want them to fumble when I question them, and they have all replied well, being quite honest with me, since I have known them all these years. I had not briefed them,” he informs.

In fact, Anupam reveals that he now wants to interview himself on the show to find out whether he would be as honest with his answers. When quizzed as to who he would prefer to interview him, the actor says, “I want to interview myself. Nobody knows me better than I do. But I think Kiran can do a great job.” He says he wants to know the answers to questions like, “What do you want to do in life at this stage? What excites you in life? How important is money to you now?”

While he discusses the fears of his co-stars, he voices his own fears in life. “I am always scared of Alzheimers. When I was shooting for my role in Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara, I did a little research on it. I never research for my roles.

But from that day on, I am scared that I will be affected by it someday. Everyday I chant three mantras, and I have been doing it for many years. Once I forgot one of the mantras and I felt I was affected by Alzheimers,” he recalls.

The 59-year-old actor, who has hosted shows like Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle, Sawaal Dus Crore Ka and Lead India, is not nervous about the show that went on air on July 6, on Colors. “Success and failure have never affected me.

Life is not one dimensional. We want to take an easy path and we put ourselves into a mould. Success is one dimensional. In fact, failure has made me optimistic. I see only the positive side. My wife Kiran feels that I only see the positive side of people.”

Apart from bollywood actors, Anupam Kher says he wishes to have a few Hollywood actors on the show too. “I would love to, but we will have to do it abroad. It would be lovely to interview Ang Lee, Jennifer Lawrence and De Niro, whom I have known very well,” he says.
