Using Google Maps offline

Last Updated 20 July 2014, 16:40 IST

If you are going on vacation and will not have a reliable Internet connection for your phone or tablet, you can still use Google Maps. You just need to save the maps to your device ahead of time when you are online.

Open the Google Maps app and navigate to the map you want. Tap the place name at the bottom of the screen and select “Save map for offline use.” Zoom in or out of the map until you have your selected area and then tap Save. Name the map and save it again.

To check the saved map later, go to the main Google Maps screen and tap the person icon in the top-right corner. On the Maps Activity page, flick down to the Offline Maps area and tap the name of the map. If you have multiple saved maps, tap the “View all and manage” option.
