Fucchas display the latest fashion on debut day in DU

A new academic session has begun and there is no way that Delhi University is going to drop its image of the Fashionista.

Fucchas are putting on display the latest style trends and tagging Delhi University as the most fashion-forward of all places with aplomb.

It’s tough to bracket DU’s new crop of students in one style bandwagon. There is always a blend of vivacious styles merging the classic Indian and the comfortable Western clothing.

Fuccha fashion, this year, is exhibiting a distinct inclination towards fusion ensembles with floor length-kurtas being paired with blue denims and hot pants being teamed up with tribal printed tops.

All that is hot and selling is there on the campus ranging from Aztec prints, peplum and lace tops to basic wearables such as crop tops, one-pieces, denim shirts, jeans and the summer favourites: shorts. Girls just love to flaunt their wardrobes and who would miss a maxi-dress this summer as a perfect college wear?

Scarf dresses are also doing the rounds with breezy prints in silk fabrics adorning many a petite figures. Akansha Malhotra, a proud entrant to the English Honours course in Hindu, exclaimed, “Scarf dresses look so awesome and flattering, especially when teamed with a skinny jeans and cool shades. I thought they will be perfect to make the first impression on orientation day.”

Sheer shirts are also grabbing eyeballs with statement neckpieces and earrings. Puneeta Kalra of Hansraj College informed us, “I especially bought a couple of sheer shirts. They are the ‘in’ thing and a great summer fashion asset. I just love them.”

Trendy footwears, bags and accessories come complimentary to these chic clothes. High wedges, jelly-slippers and those fancy flats - count them all. If you spot a leather bag, don’t miss out on the beautiful leather detailing.

If girls are going all out to impress their peers, boys are not far behind. Funky shades, studs and neckpieces are on showcase bought from all over Connaught Place, Tibetan Market and Palika Bazar.
Avneet Garg of SRCC explained, “You can’t do without these things, however costly they may be. I asked my dad for extra pocket money to fetch me these things.”

“However, I have been careful of not overdoing my look today. I don’t want to
end up looking oversmart and being ragged by seniors,” he added cheekily.
