With increasing stress for police working overtime, the city police force has found a way to combat work related pressure.

On Tuesday, a stress management workshop for the police personnel was launched at the Horse Park, near City Armed Reserve (CAR) police grounds in the city.

The day-long workshop conceptualised by the Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), Bangalore, was attended by around 40 police personnel, from police constables to head constables, ASIs to SIs, and Inspectors to ACP, of Krishnaraja sub-division.

In the seven hour long exercise, the participants were imparted basics like transacting with the people on the job, the art of introduction, discussion, meditation and breathing  techniques.

According to Rohit Narayan, a trainer, transacting with the people requires the basics of psychology, while introducing oneself to a complete stranger is akin to a ice-breaker.

A particular way of breathing can be practiced while on duty at busy junction manning traffic.

Citing the example of a policeman, whom he regularly interacts with, Narayan said that he had got rid of joints pain after following the afore mentioned remedial tips.

Likewise, city police will be imparted education on the art of stress management in different batches once in a week, he added. Inaugurating the workshop, Police Commissioner M A Saleem said that it was imperative for the policemen to learn the art of beating stress.

“The policemen should learn to treat the accused with a humane gesture and utmost respect,” he said. A short movie on the style of functioning of the cops and the corrective steps required to overcome health disorders, was also screened.
