Cong takes jibe at Modi for absence in LS

The Congress party on Tuesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his absence in Lok Sabha, saying he should “show his face” in the House at least once in a week.

“The prime minister should show his face, at least, once in a week. I do not expect him to come here every day. After the Budget Session, he did not come to the House,” the Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said in the Lower House. The ruling party, however, retaliated, saying, “We have a working prime minister.”

Kharge noted that prime minister attended the BRICS summit held in Brazil earlier this month but did not apprise the Lok Sabha members of its outcomes so far.

“We expected that he would make a statement on the floor of the House on what exactly happened at the conference. The entire country is also very eager to learn about the outcome of the conference. Usually, the prime minister makes a statement,” the Congress leader said.

Saying that it was unfortunate that the House was waiting for the last ten days to know what happened at the BRICS Summit, Kharge demanded that the prime minister make a statement.
