JOIN USThe HSR Layout police on Monday arrested a man who, along with two others, is suspected to have attempted to rob a Corporation Bank ATM near Agara on July 12.
The suspect, identified as Basavaraj, 27, from Bellary, was arrested at Kudlu after the police received a tip-off.
Police claimed that the suspect had confessed to having attempted to rob the ATM by attacking the security guard, Shamshul Khan, 20, with a machete.
Investigators are gathering information about two other miscreants said to be involved in the attack.
On July 12, a gang of three men had attacked Khan in a bid to rob the kiosk he was guarding. Khan was asleep at the time.
The robbers, however, could not break the kiosk open. Another guard, who came to relieve Khan, found him lying in a pool of blood, took him to a hospital and called the police.
