Former WB official and journalist Sundaram Sankaran dies

Sundaram Sankaran, who worked at the World Bank for over 25 years and served as the US correspondent for Indian dailies, has died. He was 87.

Sankaran joined the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC in 1962 as a writer in the Office of Information and retired in 1988 as Chief of the Bank's Public Affairs Division.

He successively worked as the US Correspondent for The Business Standard and The Economic Times after his retirement.

He began his journalistic career in 1950 with PTI.

Sankaran passed away on July 19 at his house in Kensington Maryland; a suburb of Washington DC, his daughter Prabha Carpenter told PTI.

He is survived by his wife Seetha, their four children and one great grandchild.
