JOIN USA 20-year-old woman was found drowned in a lake in Konasandra, off Kanakapura Road, under Thalaghattapura police limits on Sunday.
According to police, Asma Taj and her sister Shaziya Taj (24), residents of Anchepalya, had gone to a nearby lake in the morning. Asma started playing in the water and moments later Shaziya noticed Asma drowning and jumped into the water to rescue her.
Hearing their screams, a few villagers managed to rescue Shaziya but could not save Asma as she had already drowned. Police rushed to the spot and fished out the body of Asma in the evening. Shaziya is said to be recuperating at a private hospital.
A case of unnatural death was registered in Thalaghattapura police station.
Man electrocuted
A 24-year-old man was electrocuted after stepping on a live wire near Vasudevapura under Thalaghattapura police limits on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh, a resident of Vasudevapura. The deceased stepped on a live wire which had snapped from an electricity pole and had fallen on the ground. He was electrocuted on the spot.
The police have registered a case of negligence against Bescom and are conducting further investigation.
