Heavy rain hits normal life in TN and Puducherry

 Normal life affected in Tamil Nadu due to heavy rain that lashed across the State including the State capital since Saturday night even as weather office
predicting more downpour in the next two days due to upper air cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
 
"An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu coast. Due to this system, heavy rain continue to occur at all most all parts of
Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during the next 48 hours". a senior official from regional meteorological centre here on Sunday evening said.
 
According to him, Thiruvannamalai district recorded maximum rainfall of 150 mm during the last 24 hours followed by Thanjavur district, which registered 100 mm during
the same period.
 
He said strong winds from south westerly to westerly direction speed reaching 45-55 KMPH likely along and off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts during the next 24
hours.
 
Meanwhile, heavy rain on Saturday night left several areas in Chennai and its outskirts water logged, causing traffic snarls on several arterial roads with people had to wade through knee deep water.
 
Several trees were uprooted along state and national highways due to rain and along with the heavy wind.
