Koppal Lok Sabha member Sanganna Karadi demanded the Union government to release sufficient funds for the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada, on Tuesday.
Participating in a debate in the Lok Sabha, the member said that though the Centre has accorded classical status to Kannada in 2011, no special facilities or financial assistance were given for the development and promotion of the language.
The Centre should take immediate steps to release funds required for the development of Kannada and issue instructions to the State Government to utilise the funds properly.
