Ready-to-eat food on Jaipur Express

Passengers travelling to Jaipur from Bangalore by Yeshwantpur-Jaipur Express (train no 02695), starting September 11, have a treat in store for them.

They can try out ready-to-eat meals on wheels as announced in the recent Railway budget.

They can now order food online before the journey and get food at the any prefered time during the journey. Passengers can book their meals from September 1 when they book tickets through the website- www.irctc.co.in.

They can choose food items from the well-known Bangalore food chain brand, Maiya’s, by clicking Maiya’s meal option category. The Railways recently inked a partnership with Maiya’s for supplying ready-to-eat food on trains.

Sadananda Maiya of Maiya’s Foods said they have included traditional items in the menu. Breakfast menu includes Sambar-idly, tomato upma, masala upma, khichdi, bisibelebaath, plain upma while lunch and dinner menu includes rice, curry and roti with dal. A group of experts will accompany passengers in both directions to have first hand experience of new catering system, he said.

‘It’s an honour to join hands with Railways to launch this scheme on Jaipur premium train. We will use our expertise and innovation to improve the catering experience of the railway passengers,” Maiya said in a statement on Sunday.
