Sample the Anglo-Indian feast

Last Updated 01 September 2014, 13:31 IST

An Anglo-Indian Food Festival is being hosted by Le Pont and will go on till September 7 at the restaurant. A variety of dishes that have evolved over the years will be showcased at the venue.

The dishes, that have influences from a host of European nations that date back to the colonisation of the country, are an example of ‘fusion foods’, which have been reinvented and reinterpreted in many ways.

The quintessential Western ingredients have been assimilated and amalgamated using cooking techniques from all over the Indian sub-continent.

The menu has favourites such as coconut rice and mince ball curry, savoury beef roast and roast potatoes, railway mutton curry and masala chops, grandma’s country captain chicken and chicken ‘jalfrazie’, fish cutlets, pepper water and ‘dol mash’, ‘vegetable foogath’, caramel custard and more.

Bridget White Kumar and Miriam Paul are the ones responsible for the spread. Bridget has authored seven Anglo-Indian recipe books. The exclusive buffet spread will be available for lunch and dinner.

Le Pont is open for lunch from 12 pm and goes on till 3.30 pm, while the dinner spread starts at 7 pm and ends at 10.30 pm. The restaurant is located at No 65 Gold Plaza, Coles Road, Frazer Town. For details, call 41649408.
