JOIN USAuto driver rapes 15-year-old girl
A 15-year-old mentally challenged girl was raped by an auto driver at east Delhi’s Ghazipur during the wee hours of Monday.
Police have been unable to ascertain the identity of the victim and a team has been constituted to identify her.
Auto driver Ramashish, 35, was caught by a police team patrolling in a police control room van. The policemen noticed a parked autorickshaw near the Ghazipur flyover.
Sensing something suspicious, they searched the vehicle and then a forested area near it. As they neared the forested area, they heard a girl’s screams for help.
They searched and found the auto driver raping the girl. She was rescued and taken to Ghazipur police station along with the accused.
The girl was unable to speak anything and police said she was in a state of shock. She has not even been able to tell her name or her address.
Police then turned their attention towards the driver who confessed to his crime.
“Ramashish said he was waiting near Anand Vihar railway station when he noticed the girl. He asked her where she wanted to go and she mentioned Sarai Kale Khan. He told her that he too was going there and offered to drop her,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.
Instead, he stopped the three-wheeler near an isolated location at Ghazipur and took her to a secluded location where he raped her.
Meanwhile, police reached the spot and caught him red-handed.
The girl’s identity was not known till late on Monday. She was sent to a shelter home and is being counselled.
Police are searching the database of missing children to check if she features in the list. Police at Sarai Kale Khan too have been told to help in identifying her relatives as that was the place she had told the auto driver she wanted to go.
