Experimenting with looks

Last Updated 02 September 2014, 13:25 IST

Two things that actor Tilak just can’t compromise on are his fitness and passion for cinema. His craze for the big screen began as a teenager.

The young star is more than open to dipping his fingers into as many characters as possible which he thinks will not only make him a versatile actor but a good human being as well.

Tilak doesn’t believe in resting on his laurels. His latest venture ‘Octopus’ in Kannada has him playing the role of an investigating officer. “The Kannada film industry is open to experimenting with all kinds of subjects and that’s why we now have a film like ‘Octopus’ which is science thriller. With this, the Kannada film industry will be coming of age,” reasons Tilak.

He feels it wasn’t easy playing the role of a cop. “I must say that I feel like a real cop when I slip into the uniform. I work out to stay fit and now. The uniform automatically gives you some kind of power and your body language also changes accordingly,” he states.

He has also changed his look for the film. “I’ve grown a moustache and I’ve had to work on building my stamina,” he states. Tilak feels he’s now getting more meaningful roles.

“For a change, I haven’t been offered to do a love story. It gets a little monotonous after a while,” he feels.   He has also signed up to play a prominent character in a horror film.

“It’s a spooky film which traces the story of a college student who goes on a vacation and strange things start happening to him. But the twist in the script changes the course of the story. There are no gory scenes and bloodshed. It is a neatly shot film,” observes Tilak.

In another project which is yet to be titled, Tilak will appear in three different looks. “It’s interesting to experiment with my looks all the time. I love my job and do everything I can to keep reinventing myself,” he states.  Tilak has taken a three-month break and is vacationing in Las Vegas with his friends.
