Keeping the buzz alive and vibrant

One of most awaited events of the year - Bangalore Comic Con - is almost upon us and Bangalore is getting ready for the event. Youngsters all over the City, who are in anticipation of the mega-event, are looking to have some fun before the event begins.

Founder of Comic Con India, Jatin Varma, has been hosting a series of events to keep the ‘buzz’ alive. The weekend saw a ‘Superhero tracks and tunes’ night and ‘Epic heroes vs villains’ night.

He said, “Both events were pre-event parties to create buzz around the upcoming Bangalore Comic Con. The audience that comes to Comic Con loves these kinds of pre-event parties. We have had tremendous response in other cities with such initiatives so we decided to host them in Bangalore as well.”

The ‘Superhero tracks and tunes’ themed party was held at Xtreme Sports Bar in Indiranagar and had a dedicated group of music lovers at the venue. Duality, a band comprising of Mihir Ranganathan and Manoj Sreekumar, played a few superhero themed songs and some original scores. Some of the songs played by the band were, ‘Masters of the Universe’ from He-Man, ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ from Game of Thrones, the Simpsons theme song and the Spiderman theme song.

Jatin said, “Duality is a group that we have worked with before and they play well, not only do they cover some great superhero theme songs but they also some killer original tracks dedicated to different characters.” There was a karaoke contest which gave audiences a chance to win Comic Con merchandise.

‘Epic heroes vs villains’ night was a night of cosplaying, laughs and quizzing. Stand-up comedians Sundeep Rao and Sanjay Manaktala sent the crowd into giggles with their jokes.

“‘Epic heroes and villains’ night, is one of the most popular formats that we host. It showcases nerdy stand-up with leading comedians, cosplayers as well as a special pub quiz, where people win lots of goodies from Comic Con India. The comedians usually play up the geeky angle in their sets, which people love,” said Jatin.

The much-looked forward to event will take place from September 12 to 14 at White Orchids Convention Centre, Manyata Tech Park.
