‘Notice not issued to State Mines Department
The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) has denied issuing any notice to the Department of Mines and Geology (DMG) in connection with the illegal mining in the State.
Top official from IBM told Deccan Herald that no such notice has been issued to the State. “We have just written to them to accompany the team of officials to Bellary to look into the complaints related to mining in the unleased mineral rich forest patches,” he said.
Responding to a query, a top official from IBM said that the inspection being conducted is not connected to the Obulapuram mining. “We had several complaints about illegal mining in the unleased forest areas from the local residents. We are looking into those since past two days,” he said.
On the findings, he said that not much has come out of it and it needs further study.
