Children's lit fest begins
The third edition of the festival will be held till Saturday. Kathavana is a bilingual festival (Kannada and English) that aims to bring together children, storytellers, publishers, teachers and academicians. The theme of the festival this year is ‘Children’s Voices in Literature’ seeking to engage children voices into classroom spaces.
The event was inaugurated by author H S Venkatesh Murthy. Addressing the gathering, he said stories are a powerful tool to gain the confidence of children. “One who loves stories loves life as well. One who loses confidence in stories loses the path of life.”
He encouraged teachers to relook at Ramayana and Mahabharatha and help students understand these in the current context in the country. Teachers from government and private schools participated in the event.
