A paperless e-cabinet meeting at the Lakeview guest house, the make shift of the chief minister of residual Andhra Pradesh, marked the first 100 days of the Telugu Desam Party government in office on Monday.

Chandrababu Naidu, the tech savvy chief minister, saw to it that all his cabinet colleagues carried only their iPads and no files.

Though many of the ministers had no prior experience in such an exercise, they handled the four-hour meeting quite well.“The e-cabinet is designed to streamline the decision-making process, implemented using FileCloud Tool that enables sharing and synchronisation of files from multiple client devices,” a government release explained.

The e-Cabinet system functions similar to a Dropbox, but in a private cloud environment. It provides secure access to data through multiple client devices such as desktops, laptops and iPads as well as mobile access client
systems like iOS, Android

and Windows. Word, Excel, Power Point and text documents can be stored, shared and synchronised. At present, at least 30 users can access the e-cabinet.

The e-cabinet app also helps the ministers to access the agenda of the meeting.

Besides password protection, a three-layer security is enabled: 1. Four-digit PIN is required to access cabinet client app on the iPad; 2. Access to server is enabled by entry of an additional password; and 3. Administrator can wipe out files if the devices are lost or stolen.

The CMO has listed ordinance on Polavaram, loan waiver to farmers, hike in monthly pension of the aged and widows, drinking water through mineral water  cans of 20 at Rs 2, abolition of illegal liquor outlets, Increasing retirement age of government employees to 60 years, power to all from this October and setting up of a bike manufacturing unit in Sri City of Nellore as its major achievements.
