Japanese technology for Intelligent transport system in City

Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) that has proposed to bring Mysore and Bangalore cities under Intelligent Transport System (ITS), held its maiden introductory meeting in Mysore, on Wednesday.

At the meeting held at the court hall of deputy commissioner’s office in the city, a representative of JICA explained to the district administration about the benefits of ITS covering both public and private transport, besides bringing under its network the existing traffic junctions and roads. It will also take care of pedestrian needs, a key link in the success of any transport system.

JICA will be simultaneously taking up the study, besides collecting the opinions of officials and the general public to make changes, if any, before drawing the final plan in the betterment of existing system’.

The Agency is working in association with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Bangalore and is expected to start implementing the project from December, said an official.
MCC Commissioner C G Betsurmath, Deputy Director of Tourism S K Qureshi, ACP (traffic) Prabhakar Bharki and other officials attended the meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner C Shikha.
