Last Updated 21 September 2014, 19:11 IST

The CCB police claimed to have cracked a theft case which was closed this January due to lack of evidence.

According to police, valuables were stolen from the house of Basavaraju on February 22, 2013. He had lodged a complaint suspecting the involvement of his wife, Veda, in the theft.

The police could not gather any evidence against Veda and closed the case. Meanwhile Veda parted ways with her husband accusing him of harassment and started living separately.

Recently, Basavaraju got to know that she was trying to sell the stolen ornaments and lodged a complaint with the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Hemanth Nimbalkar. Soon, a team of CCB police raided Veda’s house and seized the stolen jewellery. However, she could not be arrested since she had obtained a bail, police added.
