Keeping in mind the nation’s size, its ever increasing population, its economic growth and development, security has become one of the gravest concerns.

And to meet this growing challenge, the security forces need to keep themselves updated with modern techniques and state-of-the-art equipments to counter security threats.

The forces also need to be well-equipped to respond to both natural and manmade disasters.

To promote the development of Indian security industry and facilitate police forces, Central Armed Police Forces, Para-Military Forces, fire services, special security agencies and to keep them abreast with the latest technology in the field of homeland security, the 17th India International Security Expo was organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) at Pragati Maidan in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The aim of the Expo was to provide an opportunity to the police, fire departments and special forces of the country to check out the latest technology available in the field of arms and ammunitions, fire safety and disaster management.

About 100 manufacturers, including 10 foreign companies showcased security gadgets which could be useful in homeland security, surveillance, aviation security, training simulators, fire safety, disaster management, etc.

Talking to Metrolife, Arvind Ranjan, Director General, CISF, said, “This Expo has taken the security industry to a next level, where the interest of all stakeholders will be taken care of. The aim of the Expo was to enhance the capacity and capability of the forces to deal with any contingency with the help of integrated security measures.”

At the Expo, the CISF had set up its ‘consultancy’ stall to provide information in the field of security to government, semi-government and private establishments. Till date, the CISF has provided consultancy to 91 major establishments, like IIT-Kharakpur, passport offices, Uttar Pradesh secretariat, Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Secretariat, SEBI headquarter, Mumbai, etc.

The CISF also proposed to develop an integrated security Gadget Evaluation Centre so that use of reliable gadgets is increased.

During the three-day event, CISF women commandos also conducted a self-defence demonstration in martial arts ‘Pekiti-Tirsia-Kali’, the CISF dog squad presented a dog show and CISF fire wing demonstrated various fire-fighting skills and techniques.
