Nine artists, nine perspectives and nine genres came together on a single platform to create a buzz about the dynamics of contemporary art through their colourful canvases.

The artists, selected keeping in mind their vast body of work, the potential of their talent and those who have already carved a niche for themselves in the world of art, showcased their work at ‘Dynamics’ an art exhibition, which concluded on Monday.

Artist Dileep Sharma, whose works were on display at the event, which was held at the Chawla Art Gallery, Square One Mall, Saket, said, “I tend to get deeply involved in my art with great zeal, which leads me to self-satisfaction. My works are celebrated through the medium of print on paper, thus introducing me to a visual self-portrait which I was earlier unaware of.”

Farhad Hussain’s canvases talks about human relationships and his works are presented with a touch of humour and sarcasm. Says Hussain, “As a person I have always enjoyed the politics of human relationships. My artworks come from day to day visual experience. And these are always presented with a touch of humour and sarcasm. I have also started incorporating various elements from different sources that includes miniature paintings, Kalighat pats, bazaar, classical and oriental designs, Japanese prints and images from the entertainment world as well.”

On the other hand, Qamar Alam believes that the basic theme in his art revolves around spirituality and how it resides inside every individual. “The world around us is constantly changing, sometimes bringing stability and sometimes creating chaos. These changes create new situations and meanings, moulding our perceptions with time. The respect and importance of inter-relationship between two or more humans find reflection in my paintings.”

For Mukul Mishra art is the human language, a silent, yet evocative language that every human can hear, see and understand. Mishra chose sculpture as his form of art because of its raw power, and bronze as his medium because “of the way it diffuses the reflection of light into many earthen tones.”

Pratul Dash’s works are engaged with issues concerning environment and urbanisation. His strength lies in articulating sensitive issues through his art and his control over colour palette.

“My painting is in continuation with my general engagement with issues concerning environment, urbanisation, conflicts, migration of workers, ecology, degradation of values, and critique of modernity and modernisation. Within the aesthetic and conceptual framework that I have been engaged in the past few years, I explore  a new territory of human condition that is rapidly transforming in the complex process of urbanisation.”
