14 runaway kids reunite with families

Last Updated 30 September 2014, 20:42 IST

Dreaming big, Manjunath, 12, studying in Belgaum and living in a hostel, was not keen on education.

And precisely to pick on gullible people like him, chasing Big City chimera, was an unknown person who promising a job brought him to Bangalore. Sadly, Manjunath was blissfully unaware of the benevolent man’s bad intentions. However, thanks to SATHI —  Society for Assistance to Children in Difficult Situations, an NGO, Manjunath was able to reconnect with his parents who are set to come down from Goa take him back.

Learning from his foolhardy experience, Manjunath, a class VI dropout, now wants to continue his studies.

There were 13 others like him in the age group of 10-15 years who had left home driven by circumstances or forced to live away from their families. All 14 of them were reunited with their families at Yeshwantpur railway station.

Similarly, three boys — Sarvana, 10, Naveen, 10 and Aravind, 12 — were rescued from different places in the City after they ran away from their hostel due to physical harassment. Now, their parents are coming to take them back.
