IIT for B’lore: CM welcomes Moily’s statement

Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has welcomed the Union Minister Veerappa Moily’s declaration that Bangalore will get an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the next six months.


“It will be good for us if the IIT comes up in Bangalore in the next six months,” the CM said while talking to reporters after inspecting the ongoing renovation works at the Town Hall.

He said he would forward the memorandum to the Union Government to approve some of the projects for state’s development. In this regard he would meet S M Krishna and Railway Minister Mamata Ba nerjee.

The CM said there will be a two-day exhibition from May 30 at the Town Hall to display the developmental activities carried out by the state. Such exhibition would be held in all the four divisions, the CM said.

Town Hall inspection

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa on Sunday made a surprise visit to the Town Hall with a short notice to inspect the ongoing renovation work.

Fifteen days back the renovation work was started with a budget of Rs 15 lakh. As the Town Hall is booked till May 31, the renovation work is going on in a slow pace. From June 1 no functions may take place at the Town Hall to carry out the renovation work.

BBMP sources said, the CM saw the condition of chairs, which were damaged. He directed the officials to install split air-conditioner inside the Town Hall. He set the deadline for the BBMP officials to get the works done in the next two months. He also gave instructions to beautify the vacant space around the Town Hall.
