Nobel laureate Venki to speak at IISc

Bangalore, Dec 26, DHNS:

Winner of this year’s Nobel Prize for Chemistry, Venkatraman Ramakrishnan will deliver a public lecture at the Indian Institute of Science here on January 5.

Much celebrated in the country, the molecular biophysicist will speak about his “Journey from Baroda to Cambridge” at the J N Tata Auditorium. The venue is likely to be filled to capacity, since he had got a rousing reception from the audience at the University of Madras on Tuesday.

Dr Ramakrishnan’s association with Baroda in Gujarat goes back to his school days when his father was appointed at the Maharaja Sayajirao University.

The International Centre for Theoretical Science (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of fundamental research, Mumbai will unveil the foundation stone of its campus in Bangalore on December 28. ICTS was founded in 2007 and conducts programs, interactions and cross fertilisation betweendisciplines.
