Much to the respite of residents, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has started the road repair works on Hennur Main Road which was battered during the recent downpour.

On October 15, Home Minister K J George, who is the MLA of Sarvagnanagar, visited the area and directed the Palike officials present at the spot to take action immediately to make the road motorable. On October 14, Deccan Herald had reported about the bad condition of Hennur Main Road and how it has not been asphalted for more than five years.

“We have cleared the mud moulds and construction debris that had been on lane all this while. Very soon, we will undertake asphalting and tarring works. The road had been damaged due to Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Work (BWSSB) work,” said Kempegowda, Executive Engineer (East), BBMP Major Works Department.

During his inspection, the minister informed the public that the Hennur flyover project that was stalled for more than a year due to land acquisition issues will start soon.

“There is one private property on other end of the flyover and once it is purchased, the work will begin. We have already heightened the high-tension transmission tower near flyover that was hindering the project,” added George. The minister inaugurated infrastructure work at a total cost of Rs 13.50 crore at layouts coming under Hennur limits.
