With the increased tension on Sino-Indian border, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has demanded more high-tech cameras for surveillance into Chinese territory.

The force, which guards the 3,488-km-long high altitude border stretching from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh, has already installed a camera at Thakung post in Ladhak sector, which can zoom up to 20-25-km inside Chinese territory.

"We need more of such instruments," ITBP Director General Subhas Goswami has said. Sources said the ITBP is looking to purchase 40 to 50 such cameras.

Goswami said the ITBP is fully prepared to deal with any situation as its personnel are properly trained. To aid them there is a need for more surveillance equipment. China has become more aggressive and it appears that it is reacting to India's aggressive stand on improving infrastructure, he added.
