A 29-year-old history-sheeter was hacked to death by his friend at his home in Vinobha Nagar under the KG Halli police limits in the early hours of Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Raheel. Police have arrested the assailant, Waheed, the son of former corporator Mehboob Khan. According to police, on Thursday night, Waheed, Raheel and their friends had gathered at the former’s house for a party. All the friends left the house late in the night while Raheel and Waheed continued to have drinks till early morning. A quarrel ensued between the two drunk men over a personal matter, police said.

As the two came to blows, Waheed’s mother and wife attempted to send Raheel out of the house. However, Raheel abused both the women, which riled Waheed. He picked a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Raheel. A profusely bleeding Raheel ran from the house.

However, Waheed chased him down and stabbed him in the neck, and he collapsed near the house gate.  “Hearing the commotion, the neighbours called the police, who rushed to the spot and caught a fleeing Waheed. They also shifted Raheel's body to a nearby hospital. He was declared brought dead,” a senior police officer said.

The officer said that Raheel was a history-sheeter at the KG Halli police station and was wanted in 24 cases of extortion, attempts to murder and robbery reported at the KG Halli, DJ Halli, Hennur and Banaswadi police stations. He was recently released on bail.
