The City Police on Friday questioned school van drivers of Orchids The International at Jalahalli Circle in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a three-year-old child.

The police, who already have the prime suspect in the custody, are now questioning all the male staff members at the school.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar visited the school on Friday and supervised the questioning of the drivers. “We are still waiting for the formal identification of the suspect by the victim, which may take time. In the meanwhile, we are recording the statements of all the male staff who were in the school on the day of the incident,” an official said.

The team probing the case has also taken the statement of 37 non-teaching staffers, including 11 men. Investigating Officer Sarah Fatima (ACP, Malleswaram sub-division) and Shobha Rani, ACP, Cubbon Park sub-division, have collected details of the case from the parents of the victim.

The police have again questioned the prime suspect, 45-year-old attender, based on the information provided by the kid.

“The case is a challenging one since the kid is just three-year-old. We are investigating the matter in a systematic manner and also cautiously so that the child is not disturbed. We are questioning all suspects in connection with the case,” Alok Kumar said.

The police are also cautious about the probe especially after the Vibgyor rape incident, wherein a wrong person was arrested. A senior police official said that the formal procedure of identification of the suspects by the kid will be conducted soon.

George reviews probe

Home Minister K George on Friday reviewed investigation conducted so far in the Orchids school rape case, at a meeting held in the City. Incidentally, the meeting was called to discuss the safety issues of people from Northeast in Bangalore.

“The police have taken action against the school management. The secretary has been arrested by the police and action will be taken against the other accused. As far as the sexual abuse case is concerned, arrest will be made by the police soon,'' George added.
