Actress Neethu, who actively stays away from the spotlight, was most recently seen in ‘Bigg Boss Kannada Season 2’, where she says she had a good time.

“I got a new perspective on life when I went there. Although it looks like a reality game show, it is not very different from life.”

How was her experience on the game show? She says the biggest lesson she learnt was patience. “It took a few weeks to get adjusted with everyone in the house. Initially, I would fight a lot but then I received a good name; people took time to get to know me. When I got the offer, I didn’t know it would bring out so much good in me,” she says.

She adds, “Even though I knew most of the contestants well before the show and we were friends, when we entered, we were nothing but competitors. It made me realise that everyone wants to be a player. As the show developed, people who were my friends remained as contestants but people who I didn’t know very well turned into friends.” She says Adi Lokesh is one of the few people who she has maintained a steady friendship with.

Although she has not taken on any projects as of now, she has a few movies that are pending release, including ‘Ring Road Shubha’. She also has a role in recently released ‘Fair and Lovely’. When asked why she hasn’t taken on any roles, she says, “There aren’t many options to choose from. I want a role where I feel like I’m challenging myself and I have a substantial part to play. But right now, I have stopped looking out for challenging roles.”

She adds that popular, commercial blockbusters aren’t what she is looking out for because they are the least bit challenging. “Any heroine can replace the other in such roles.”

According to Neethu, the film industry is male-dominated and nothing can be done about it. “We, as women, have to better our skills, that is all. We need to prove to people that we can do more than just running around in a few scenes,” she says. She adds that she has been approached by people with good female-oriented scripts but she did not take them on because they did not have the ability to take off. “A film must come as a package deal, with a good cast and crew.”

Is the actress discouraged by the industry? “I have thought of myself as an actress since I was the age of four or five, and I don’t get disappointed quickly,” she wraps up.
